Critique

This picture is called Dovina with Elephants it was took in August of 1955. It was taken by the famous photographer Richard Avadon which was born in New York on may 15 1923 he sadly died in October 1, 2004 at the age of 81. He was born into a Jewish-Russian family. His career started as a photographer for the Merchant Marines in 1942.
In this picture i get a feeling of tranquility and fierce fullness. The model Dovina shows poist and peacefullness with her Dior gown. The Elephants in the picture show a sense of knowledge and wisdom. They also give a feel of kindness because the model is so helpless and the Elephants are so poerful and strong.
I really like that the picture is in black and white, i think it adds more intensity. The lighting that they used for the picture looks very crisp and clear.
I think Avadon is trying to show how a creture as big and powerful as an Elephant can be gentle enough to stand next to a famous supermodel from the 50's and make it look like this can be an everyday thing.
I really like this picture because the photographer makes it look like a simple easy thing to be with Elaphants . This picture makes me think a lot about what the director was really trying to say by having to different themes.(elaphants vs. supermodel). If i had to change anything i would mess with the picture on photobucket and adding a little color to make it more modern.
