Enviormental
This project was to take a photo of someone in their enviorment, like a chief while he is cooking or a teacher during class. I decided to take a picture of Ashley Reed in a dumpster because she dumpster dives at least once a week to help out a great cause!! She searches for food in dumpsters so that she can help feed the homeless every Wednesday in downtown San Diego along with all the other caring people involved in Food not Bombs. The dumpsters at school were pretty dirty and nasty, luckily we found a recycling dumpster and she just jumped right in. I was able to take some great photos, not too many because it was a short period. I really like these two shots the most, I fixed both of them a bit on photoshop, changing the exposure and contrast level. The pictures came out a bit dark and I was worried but after I saw them on the computer i really liked them.

House(UGLY)
We were assigned to take 24 pictures of our house that were somewhat ugly, the assignment given was to take pictures of our house that wouldn't normally be appealing to the eye at first glance or maybe never to anyone who wasn't a bit artistic. Ms Miles wanted photos of a house full of things that were unnecessary and dirty(piles of dirty laundry, dishes, dead plants etc...) but another trick was that we couldn't rearrange anything, at first I thought this was going to be difficult. I began to shoot inside my house, I took pictures of dirty dishes but I really didn't like the pictures. They didn't look very professional especially since I took them with a digital camera. I decided to take some pictures outside and I found that they looked way better and there were better things to shoot like my grandpas old rusty tools and nails. I ended up shooting more than 24 photos but when i was working on them on them on the computer I ended up only liking about 13, I wish I would of taken more photos. I painted my house that Mrs. Alvarez helped me make then I put the photos on it then I decorated it with those same nails and tools I toke photos of. I really liked my end product, I felt like it was exactly what Ms. Miles asked for.My house was in the Grand theater exhibit so i wasn't able to take a picture of the final outcome but i will as soon as i get it back. Here our some of my favorite:)
Activism through Art
This assignment was inspired by the yellow boat play, it is currently being performed here at our school(SDSCPA). This is a wonderful play about a child who gets AIDS because of a blood transfusion, but always try's to see the brighter side of things, a very optimistic kid. This is true and very uplifting and sad story. When Ms. Miles assigned this project to show activism through a photograph I just couldn't figure out what I should do for a couple of days. It was hard I wanted to take a great photo that drew attention to this horrible illness and I didn't want to offend anyone or be inappropriate . I never took a photo that had to show any kind of activism, but after a while i got a hang of it and i took a couple of different shots. first i thought about how AIDS just takes over your body and destroys your immune system so i decided to take multiple shots of a flower slowly falling apart and them i remembered that there was this building on campus that was crumbling on the bottom and I thought that would be good to show how the infection destroys peoples body. I began to do some research on AIDS because I didn't feel well informed and thats what led me to the next shoots I took of Ashley Reed holding some pills, I decided to do this because I found out that people have to take medication at a certain time, everyday to keep their body healthy. The pills that they must take are very toxic for your body and make you sick for a certain amount of time before your body gets used to them. I thought that all the ideas I had were pretty good, my favorite picture is the one with just hands and all the pills, I took a lot of time fixing it on photoshop. I learned how to make the picture look gritty, and i changed the lighting of it.

Shallow Depth of Field
For this project we had to have a partner so we could take pictures of each other showing shallow depth of field. To be honest it was difficult for me, i couldn't get the hang of shooting my model out of focus, i had never done that before. Towards the end i started to get the hang of it, i wish i would of had more time but we had to stop early to take our class photo. I like the pictures that i took, especially the one with the purple flower because of how Ashley is posing and the color of the plant is appealing to the eye.I liked this mini project,i learned something new and i plan on shooting shallow depth of field again.

Test Shot!
For this project we had to take a test shot for our senior portfolios. We had to pick a theme, and mine was focused on highlighting the many faces of the women that have to deal with hard struggles in their daily lives. It's kind of like a feminine empowerment type of thing. To be completely honest i don't exactly know if I'm going to be able to follow through with this theme. It was fun taking them because i had such a great model(Ashley Reed) that expressed the exact emotion and feeling that i wanted. I'm great full that this was an assignment because it's getting me prepared early in the year for my senior ex.

Stop Motion
This was the first project in period 1 and we had to make a stop motion video. We had to get in two groups of about 13 people, we didn't have the choice to choose who would be in our groups so that caused some conflicts but also a wide range of diverse people. I was the one of the main models, and at first i thought it was going o be fairly easy, but little did know how many pictures we would have to take and how many times i had to things over. It got really stressful/frustrating at times because we were such a large group and it got hard working together day after day on the the same thing. We did have a lot of problems because people keep getting hurt and they were confused on what to do.I think this was a good project because now we know how who we can work with and who we probably shouldn't work with. It ended up being a pretty good video, thanks to everyone. Even though this project was tedious it was still a lot of fun and i 'am glad that i got a chance to be a part in a stop motion video.

Maya Angelou
I had a lot of fun with this assignment, i really liked the fact that you made us look up quotes by such a great artist. With this i learned about Maya Angelou and how great her work really is. The second thing was i got better at taking pictures. This is my little sister, having a good time, she didn't even know that i told her to go play outside because i wanted to take a natural shot of her. The second photo i just really really liked and i wanted to put it up somewhere.
Final
So this was it, my final picture. With this photo there was so much freedom, it was difficult to chose what exactly to do. What ended up happening was, i was taking a stroll down by the bay, trying to get my creative juices flowing when i saw this beautiful boat. At first i was just taking pictures, must of took about 20 until i got the one i really liked. I was waiting until the boat got closer to the sun so i can get some light on one side. So there i was following the boat until t got to where i wanted it. I really like how the clouds look, the only thing i wish o would of done would be to zoom in closer.

Art Show
In this assignment we just needed to take some good pictures of anything we wanted. i decided to take pictures of flowers. i used my digital camera and just started shooting. I really wanted take some micro style pictures of ants, but it was just not working out. They ran away so fast, so that didn't work out. In the first picture i really like the colors, its bright. The second one i really like because its not even the whole flower and its in black&white. the last one i did because it's a dead flower and shows that sometimes beauty doesn't last forever also the lighting on the side looks nice.

ADD BRUSHES
I've previously worked with this photo to make my model look more clean and magazine type presentation. But now i had to add some brushes just so i could get better with photoshop and get use to using different shapes and colors so that it doesn't look like i just threw everything together. I really like working with brushes because we have so many different choices. Going on the different sites and being able to see all the different things we can use to inhance the appeal of our photographs.
The Elements of Design
In this project we had to discover the elements of design and explore their multiple aspects. I basically decided to do a nature type shoot. The pictures were shoot at school and in my backyard. I had a lot of fun taking these pictures because i was really trying to do a good job. this had to be one of my favorite assingments . At first i didn't understand the full meaning of form, space etc so i decided to look them up, it really helped me out, i learned a lot from this project.

FASHION SHOOT
During this photoshoot i had a lot of fun, since it was so open to us to do almost whatever we please. We had some problems with our day to shoot because that day ended up being the inaguration. So we ended up shooting the next day we had fourth period. In our group we ended up letting some people join because they had no group, which made it so that we had less time. That was a little difficult because we had to rush the printing process. I ended up printing four pictures, but there was one that came out very good, i think i had some problems with the other three because of the color and also i dont think i left the photos in the fixer and the other chemicals. But in the end i had a lot of fun with this project. Now is when iam getting the hang of photograpy and i know i will do A LOT better second semester!!!
